Indian Jal Shakti for Water Availability
During elections of 2019, the BJP
Government promised to ensure availability of Water around the nation including
remote areas, up to the year 2024. For this purpose, the Government set up Jal
Shakti Ministry to achieve the aim of water availability and management in
India. As per the report of NITI Ayog, it will be required to ensure water
availability to 19 crores families of India under this programme.
Difficulties likely to come:
(i) Challenge of Water Availability:
The first problem or difficulty will
be to bring the water in remote areas. The water level in most of the parts of
India including metro cities, is very low and in such circumstances, how the
water will be ensured in remote areas of the country; that is a big challenge.
(ii) Water Equipment in large quantity:
There will be requirement of water
equipment at large level during the five years including water pumps, valves,
and filters.
(iii) Lack of funds or capital to be invested:
The funds or money for making
expenditure on large level, is also a critical problem. Due to economic
slowdown, the Government of India is already suffering from the lack of
investment. In such scenario, the Jal Shakti Programme cannot be easily
completed.
(iv) Network for underground water connections:
The network for ensuring water
availability in remote areas of India, is not available and for meeting the
objectives of the programme it will be required to connect the area through
underground water connections. This is very difficult task and cannot be achieved
without support of state governments.
